On Friday 12th May 2000 I went to a Wild West Theme Night which was held in the Students Union Bar, Park Campus. The event had been organised by students who are studying Leisure Management at the Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Higher Education.
At first I thought the evening was going to be a let down as although the event started at 7.30pm most people did not arrive until about 9pm after which the party really went Wild.
For about the first 2 hours a DJ played hits which mainly came from the 1980's, tracks like TAINTED LOVE - Soft Cell, LOVE WILL TEAR US APART - Joy Division, DON'T LEAVE ME THIS WAY - The Communards, and I'M YOUR MAN - Wham, to name but a few.
At about 10.15pm the main attraction of the evening, BIG WILLY (The Will Smith Tribute Show) came on stage and performed tracks like WILD WILD WEST, JIGGY WITH IT, MIAMI, SUMMERTIME, and MEN IN BLACK.
One thing that caught my attention was the fact that there were more females than males at the event.
I enjoyed the performance and really liked the whole night, and wish they would do more theme nights, maybe they could do a MEN IN BLACK theme night where everyone dresses as an ALIEN, (there's a little food for thought).
